Paddock Stand

Hi Chaps
I'm pondering whether to get another cheap R1100s or use the one I have to do a few track days next year. Last time out I left the centre stand on as I needed it for the tyre warmers between sessions. It decked out a bit, so I'm thinking a temporary stand or front and rear stands instead .
Has anybody else use these ?
I was thinking of making a centre stand with forks to support the bike, if I put some longer bolts where the stand fixes at the moment to make it easy to remove, if you know what I mean. Any ideas or has any one got one for sale?
Cheers Al

Hello KTM AL

When I bought my R1100S last year, The seller threw in a pile of spares including, a stand similar to what you are describing.
Although it is useful, I sourced a centre stand which is better for my needs. The original one works by using two spring loaded bolts which line up with the stand holes. A long lever is then used to lift the bike. It’s a bit fiddly and wouldn’t suit your needs as both tyres remain in contact with the ground. It does mean the bike is very stable though. The stand is also very heavy.
If you send me an email address, I can send some pictures if you’d like?

Cheers

An ABBA stand would work and if needed you could also lift the front wheel with a small scissor jack under the engine, I am assuming you take the bike to the trackday in a van/trailer!!

Hi Chaps
Thank you for replies.
I'm after a simple quick stand to lift both wheels off the ground for tyre warmers. I have an Abba stand but it would be too much fafing about at the track as there are 7 sessions.
I have seen some photos of Boxer cup bikes with a paddock stand under the rear foot pegs and perhaps a front stand to go under each of the fork legs. I expect they would be a tad unobtainable but I could make something or adapt a stand I already have.

I have one of the said rear stands in my garage that i no longer need. i had the arms extended so it picked my bcr off the ground as they only made them for the original 1100 ride height. Let me know if your interested as i will dig it out the garage.
Ian.

Al, the other option is the quick raise type like the motocross lads use.
Raises both wheels of the ground at the same time.
Although you would be raising the bike on its exhaust sustem or Cat depending on what you have fitted. See
