Hello
Looking for a bit of assistance.

Could someone who has a R1200S with Ohlins suspension see what the reference number printed on the rear shock spring is please?

Many thanks

Just a heads up - if someone has an Ohlins on their bike it may be single rate or progressive wound.
Also the spring rate could be tailored to the rider's weight as well, so the answer you might receive may not be right for you, if there are a few kg's difference in you both.
May be worth a call to an Ohlins dealer.
Just my tuppence worth.

Yes I had a feeling it might be too specific a question as there are many variables when it comes to spring rates etc. My bike has the standard shocks and before I commit to purchasing used Ohlins I wanted to check if the numbers on the spring seemed correct and not just a non specific yellow spring from goodness knows where or what :?

The Ohlins on the 12s were only available as an option via BMW Motorrad, I don’t believe you’d be able to source via an Ohlins dealer, the front shock is also an emulsion type, if your looking for used front/rear from a 12s then they could possibly due a good service so budget £300 to £500 for that. You may be better off buying new to fit you specifically.

I had my Ohlins suspension serviced by Steve Whitear at https://www.helperformance.com/ and all I can say is wow what a difference, made my 12 perfect.

There is a guy on ukgser site who has a good rep for shock refurbs, he uses OE parts, will build to match weight, fit lower or progressive springs etc, he is a good bit cheaper than the prices in Phil's post. PM me if you want his details for a chat.
Pete, milliplod on here has had his RT shocks refurbed by Luke.

I use Colin at 100% Suspension http://www.100pcsuspension.co.uk/ He rebuilt my rear on my 12S and can supply the necessary expertise on spring ratings etc.

I should clarify front and rear shock service and I just gave my bike complete including all bodywork to Steve, he then stripped out both shocks and refitted, apparently the front needed heat to free up the fixings and the exhaust had to come off to access the bottom bolt, so I’m glad that he did it as I’m a complete numpt regards spannering :D

Thanks for all the advice so far. Rich is it worth contacting Tillets to enquire if they have a set of used shocks? I’ve seen some for sale via james sherlock but would need to add in getting a service done on them for sure.
