Slipping the S

In the Bits'n bobs section I'm looking for an aftermarket silencer to replace the blown original on my R1100S.
I'm trying to work out the easiest way to remove/replace it.
Looks like I might have to dismantle the pipes from where the header meets the catalytic converter (I've actually got straight through pipes which have replaced the cat)
Just wondering if it's possible (or advisable) to remove the R1100S slip-on silencer by simply unbolting the silencer clamp and somehow wiggling it off?
