Yup - hoping to take the 'Bird our for a little jaunt over to Grantham Honda today as it looks ok out there. Promised myself a demo on that VFR1200-engined cross-tourer thingy.

We've been lucky around our way, not much in the way of snow, unlike last year where we really copped it bad. Roads all dry, a bit dusty here and there with the salt, but love how the bike runs in really cool air. Wrapped up warm it's fantastic biking weather.

Well, Julie and I were supposed to go cycling on the manifold trail this weekend, but as its still under several feet of snow
we decided to come along and stay at
The manifold inn anyway and just enjoy a relaxing weekend doing nothing but beer testing and reading the papers etc. I have to apologise to whoever was riding the blue 1100s who had to turn around because some idiot had managed to get his car stuck in a snowdrift half a mile from the inn
We had to be towed out by the local farmer in his tractor. Anyhoo, now ensconced in the inn with a foaming pint of ale in front of me

Didn't bother in the end Ian - it started snowing (well a few flurries) unfortunately, but I do have an invitation to pop back any time for a decent ride on the Cross-Tourer.

Popped out again this afternoon to Webbs in Lincoln, which I've not been to since 1985 when I used to be stationed up in Lincs. The place has certainly changed! Shows how out of touch I've become with the latest bikes too as I hardly recognised a lot of the stuff. Looking around though, I'm really hard pushed to think of any bike that I'd really like to replace the Blackbird with.

Beat you to it by a few hrs, had the roof down for the first time this year on the mg on the way too work yesterday at 06:00, as the heater doesn`t work it really doesn`t matter if the roof is up or down
Been up on dartmoor today for an easy 8 miles(not) fantastic walking weather as long as you can stop the draughts, with the wind it was -5/6 plenty of ice on the run offs but quite refreshing until we turned into the wind at the cosdon beacon nr Belstone, luckily it was the last stretch back to the pub.

I really like the look of that crossdresser thingy, but the panniers look like cheapo coolbags from aldi, and although the vfr1200 isn't the best looking bike (by a long chalk) it certainly ticks all the boxes that I would want , 'cept good looks and tank range
And they're becoming available at a very reasonable price.
Still ugly though, but when has that ever stopped us, eh Reg?

I agree Steve - the luggage, whilst I'm sure is of good quality, just looks pants. Grantham Honda have a couple of used Viffer 12's in - both with low mileage and less than a year old. One has an Akrapovic can which improves the bike's looks quite nicely, and the whole bike looks rather smart in black. Different, yes. Ugly? It's really growing on me if I'm honest - I hated it to start with, but in the way that each new BMW 5-Series looks ugly, it soon starts to look good.
