WW2017 Snowdonia or Llangollen

I've been negotiating with a hotel in the heart of Snowdonia as a possible venue for WW 2017, just as a change from the Wild Pheasant if anyone is interested.

I think they maybe able to match or get close to the price the WPH give us.

However, it's about 50 miles further into Wales than the WPH so for those travelling some distance it adds another hour to the journey (however a glorious hour in some fine countryside ;) )

Is anyone interested ?

PS

Finally got some solid figures

"Many thanks for your enquiry we are able to accommodate the numbers you have mentioned on a Dinner B&B tariff of £55.00 per person per night with a single supplement of £12.00 per room per night.

This is for three courses plus coffee.

The Breakfast is served at your leisure which has fruit yoghurts cereal toast plus cooked breakfast if you wish.

We have the 21st April 2017 free at the moment if you are interested."

6 miles further than Llangollen from Exmouth but AA autoroute reckons an hour longer to get there! We will just have leave earlier on the friday :)

221 miles for us over the M4 bridge and approx 6hrs with a lunch stop, if you go via the M48 Chepstow/Usk/Abergavenny (superb) a little longer/slower but well worth it :D

Not a bad ride from Bedford if I go via the Elan Valley. 250 miles for the day.

A change is as good as a rest. As fantastic as the Wild Pheasant has been for us all of these years, a new venue would be nice, and the area around Beddgelert is rather lovely. My only request is a pint of bitter with a few more vowels that the Cwrw(?!?!) served at the Wild Pheasant [smilie=guiness.gif]

Cheers,

Paul

No issues with the WPH Steve but a bit of variety can't hurt.

Mike :)

My only concerns are the WPH have been really good to us over the years, and I'm worried that if we skipped a year they may not be so inclined again..... plus IF the Goat Hotel was really bad I'd feel responsible as people will have paid their hard earned.

Well you and I, plus anyone else inclined, could take a spin out to Beddgellert and have a lunch or early evening meal over the summer to check it out.
That would only leave the rooms and we could ask to have a look at those before you report back to the Trixsters.

I think we all appreciate the hard work involved with organising an event (we do especially), there would be no "blame" if we were to go elsewhere and didn't enjoy it cause it's a group decision, and if we were to go back to the WPH I'm sure they would still do a good deal as they must have a good weekend when we have our bash there.

Looks like I might actually be home next year - for this.

Steve has done well with the WP and they have provided a good service, but I would say - don't get too sentimental about the arrangement. Boxertrixers have been good, guaranteed business to them. For that - they offered a rates that worked for them.

But- Waleshire is a big place with plenty of other establishments, which should be given a chance.

I'd say - try the new place. (Would it really put people off - if they didn't do real ales like "Bishops' Old Scrotum" or "Old Donkey-piss"? )

Al :D

That's not a bad idea John
