Welsh Weekend 2018 - done

Postby slparry » Mon Apr 24, 2017 1:37 pm

I chatted with a few about my thoughts for next years WW whilst having a drink in the bar at this years event.

One of the ideas I'd had was to hold the event over the same weekend as this year (so Friday the 20th / Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd April 2018) at Baskerville Hall, near Hay on Wye and be able to do the ride out around the Brecon Beacons and Mid Wales.

Perhaps getting into a situation where we use The Wild Pheasant, The Lion and Baskerville Hall (the bird, the cat and the dog :) ) in turn giving a "wider" coverage of the principality?

I've been speaking to Baskerville Hall and they have many accommodation offerings from camping > dorms > budget rooms > standard rooms > executive rooms.

The standard room DBB packages are below, (per person per night).

£53 dinner bed and breakfast in a budget room
£65 dinner bed and breakfast in a standard room
£75 dinner bed and breakfast in an executive room
all prices are for shared rooms with a £10 extra for single occupancy.

confirmed with Tim at the hotel on 30/1/2018

"All accommodation includes full traditional breakfast and is quoted per person per night. plus £15 extra for 3 course dinner

Executive style twins or doubles……………………£60 per person
Executive style single room………………………...£70 per person
Standard doubles, twins or triples…………………..£50 per person
Standard single room ……………………………... £60
Family rooms in the above……….…. Children aged 12 years or under charged half price
Budget style twins or doubles……………………... £38 per person
Budget style single room…………………………...£48
Multishare rooms with a minimum of 4 - max 6 people....£34 per person
Dormitories (towels not provided) ……….………..… £25 per person
We have 6 dorms which are 8-bedded to 16-bedded rooms"

The hotel has an indoor pool too.

Baskerville Hall is the same as you've heard of from Conan Doyle's "Hound of the Baskervilles", however, as he was friends with the family he set the book in Devon to protect the family from tourists.

I hope everyone likes this idea as it gives us a fantastic new area to explore and a new venue to add to our "portfolio". The Lion btw was excellent this year.

Let me know if you're interested and if everyone is we can start booking as normal with my usual request to let me know once booked and I'll add you to the list :D

Ask to speak to "Tim" at the hotel and mention Steve Parry BMW Boxertrix Weekend 20th April

I'm in. When should we start contacting the hotel to book our rooms, Steve?

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Well, John (SP250) and I intend at some point to take a spin down there to check it out, I'm off in October and am going back to Scotland but may pop over before returning to work while off. :)
