Postby minivin » Tue Apr 13, 2004 9:18 pm

To all who have been interested in this.

Finally managed to extract one and produce a CAD drawing at last, I have posted a pic on Yahoo Boxertwix atthe following address:

Rocker Cover Bolt

I will be sending the drawing to two companies tomorrow for production quotes.

Regards

You can get nice shiney chrome ones from your friendly BMW dealer for £9 a set if it proves too costly to get them made.

ohhhh, shiney shiney, do we then fit screaming eagles and "live to ride, ride to live" badges as well ;)

always a point, how often do you wish to replace partially corroded parts (mine are not corroded but just fancy doing it, anyone have any ideas on the life span of these particular bolts?), if they last ages then the cost of plated looks better than stainless (you may replace with these chrome one's only once in your ownership so is stainless worth it?).

However hopefully the price for a set of 8 will not be too bad :)

Chrome looks tacky on an 1100S Rob. There's something about s/s which oozes quality - I'll have the stainless ones please even if they are more expensive

P.S. don't seem to be able to get the piccy from your link rob

Have faxed the diagram to one very interested company (they make stuff for Vincent HRD's, Triumphs, Harley's et cetera) so should have a quote tomorrow! <fingers crossed>

Well they're a bugger to make, the manufacturer was hoping to use a M12 button bolt to do it but that proved too difficult so they then had to try a button head blank, which mean that they would be £18 each!.

£128 a set from the manufacturer

Dunno how to get around that one......
