tank removing R1100S.. seriously????

tank removing R1100S.. seriously????

When I were lad you removed the petrol tank by removing seat, undoing 1 bolt and pulling off 1 or 2 fuel pipes.

Ducking hell, this bloody bike, you need remove fairing(both sides), remove air intake tube thingywotsit, then faced with what seems like 50 million differnt pipes coming off the tank, which I presume must got back on the same places that came off of.

You even have to do this to get the bloody battery out FFS


Nice little earner in the workshop for the dealers..........

i remember when sex was safe ,, and bikes were dangerous

times change , but yep its a pain ,,, just buy a 12 and be done , way easier.

for the battery you can get away with just propping up the tank a wee bit , makes things a wee bit easier

and now will be putting it back together, well above my pay grade this alarm

seems to be wired into fuse box rather than into the loom.....

will figure out why alarm doesnt disarm properly instead..... :oops:

Take note there's a couple of fuses under the fairing panels as well, really convenient when a fuse pops in the dark, when it's pissing down and you're miles away from home :D

I consider myself a pro at stripping it down having done it so many times!

The GS is much easier as there's a built-in tank-stand:

Steve Lad, patience is required, understanding is required, a determination to succeed is required, breathe deeply and enjoy the qwerky foibles of r1100s ownership. If you have tekken the tank right off then change the fuel filter whilst your at it. YES get rid of that stupid alarm!! No one in their right mind will nick an 1100s! :wink:

So, have removed most of alarm, rejoining interrupted wires except for these two. 1 grey, one orange coming out of instrument cluster. They went to the alarm as separate wires and no obvious wire to reconnect to. There is a alarm led on top of dash but wires to that are about a third in thickness and different colours.

Will try put picture of the wires up if I can. If not will do it later...

No cant do picture from me phone will do one later.

Anyone know a good mobile bike electrician in se London/north kent

Christ the wires looked like original fitment stuff on the bike, but they ain’t. Took dash and stuff off and it’s connected to the led. Bike still don’t work but am now drinking so who cares
