Lagavulin ..

Postby slparry » Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:26 pm

.
sitting here sipping my fave scotch, reminds me of the trip I took with Andy Gear (of this parish) to the distillery a few years ago... each sip I can now place the distillery, with the sea lapping at the shoreline and the castle ruins in the bay. Many may dismiss it as fanciful, but to me it rounds the dram. It makes the taste, the flavour morph into a memory which is beyond satisfying.... circles completed. Rarely do we complete circles, my Lagavulin circles is completed :)

The stills at Lagavulin … the source

You sound very reflective there Steve....bordering on the poetic, dare I say! :) I only have a window of around 30 seconds between poetic reflectivity and nodding off if I start on my favourite malt, so the chances of committing owt to print are about zero!

For all the single malt I've drunk over the years, I've never once visited a distillery, it's something I really should get around to soon. I'm a big fan of Auchentoshan, their place is under 300 miles away, I might form a cunning plan.... :D
