"Is it Spring Yet?"

Postby BoxerCup R » Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:03 am

Getting restless to get out on the bike, weather has been good to us this winter but it's not over yet and I wish the snow would come then bugger off so I can get out and get my first ride of the year in :bounce:

My 1100S is all XCP'd up and being ridden most days to work since the start of the year. As you say the weather has been relatively kind so far but a little snow (though disruptive to my preferred 'motorcycle' commute) would be nice :D

Best thing I ever did was to relocate to Spain Jez, only a few days a year I don't want to ride ...

Off later , into the mountains to watch todays stage of the Tour of Valencia , climb up Hondon de las Frailes ....

17% gradient in places , so it will get a few of these cyclists breathing heavily .

Should be pretty up there , all the Almond blossoms out early this year .

Thanks Gerry, bracing ourselves for 60+mph winds and rain for a few days arriving later tomorrow in the south west, although I have been out on the XT660 in just a light jacket a couple of days this week.

Our Club does not really have a season - we've has 6 rides out since Christmas (between 6 and 10 bikes at at time) although this Sunday is looking a bit flaky due to Storm Ciara.

Wrap up warm and make sure you clean the bike afterwards - I hose mine down and use a wash mitt and brush and then dry with a leather then blow dry with a hand held blower (get all the water out of bolt heads , nooks and crannys and finally I spray bits that might corrode with either WD40 or a silicone water repellent spray. :D :D :D
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity

Is it Spring yet? Let me think... By Scottish standards Yep it is. Coming home from six nations afternoon in pub, blowin and raining a hoolie, a Harley passed me by. I reckon it must be.

Get out there John!

Unfortunately at work driving a high HGV with not a lot of weight in it - I used some of the toilet rolls in the back!!! storm Ciara was actually the better day as the wind was blowing in the "right" direction. The rain was so heavy and the wind so strong that it was like sheets but at least I could see which way the wind was blowing!!

It was actually sunny in sunny Devon today, was helping with boat maintenance down the sailing club this morning and decided to give the GS some fresh air, it was a bit slow to turn over so ended up riding 10-12 miles to give the battery a boost and get to the sailing club which is about a mile from my house!! Back to 50-60 mph winds tomorrow for 4 days as storm Dennis arrives, at least me and the dogs will have the beach to ourselves. Retirements a bitch :D

Ha ha ha .....

Enjoy Al !

The SA govt. ensured that I don't get my private pension that I paid a big whack into for 35 years .. We won't go back to live there.
Punishment for emigrating ....

So, my retirement in sunny Spain is ... Cleaning Swimming pools, Garden work , house maintenance,
and the odd taxi run so the expats can get pissed , and not remember to drive on the right side of the road going home !!

And all that barely covers my costs until I'm old enough to get a small UK pension, 15 years work ...

Oh well, at least the sun is shining while I'm scraping old paint and preparing to put a fresh lick on to an expats holiday villa .
