R18 reveal

Postby boxerscott » Sat Apr 04, 2020 12:02 am

Got a personal email forewarning me of the R18 reveal on youtube at 7pm.

Here it is. "Hell yeah Man"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdxNWAzMuCo

Gotta say I saw the demo bike at last years bike shows, here are the 4 variants available to joe public. if you have a soft spot for cruisers, retro and vintage this production has all three. I personally think it is the dogs bollox and i wish them well with it.

The marketing.... well, you decide. I think a bavarian attempt of not wanting to look stereotypical (lederhosen, steiners and alpine horn thingys) but in actual fact looking stereotypical glancing aside to HD who just do this thing better!

It was cringeworthingly enjoyable

Had a laugh at the point in the video where macho man is stting in front a shop window which has; "DON'T BE A DICK" written on it. :?
Open shaft looks like a great place for the tassle's on yer chaps to be pulled into :(
Are body tatoos & facial hair a requirement before you can ride this "awesome" machine? Think one would need to practice their "man hugs" before being allowed in the Motorrad Dealership to put down their deposits.

I'm sure the R18 will float some peoples boats but I think it's vulgar :pukeleft:

Not for me, but we are all different and if you like that sort of thing BMW will obviously be pleased to make your wallet considerably lighter, but the video is like a hipster propaganda message :)

And BMW's timing is a little insensitive too given that millions are struggling to survive at this time.

I'd rather have a Triumph Rocket 3 than one of those.
I'm obviously too old to be cool, cause my beard is grey and I don't have any tramp stamps either.

I was due to be going to the launch in Austria for this, but that got scuppered with the current crisis.

It's a heavy old beast. I guess BMW found the seam of heavy duty metal that HD use :D They've also priced it in the HD vein too.

Whilst I'm not a custom fan I quite like it, as opposed to the R1200C which was just yuck …. the cherry on top is the guys in the HD showroom below us hate it … :) I think we'll draw a few of their customers away!

It looks nicely put together, but I won't be bothering any Motorrad dealers with a deposit for one. Not my kinda thing.
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Never even bothered with it............

Don't see that in today's climate - it has any relevance, other than something for BMW to do - to keep their designers busy.
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
