Assen BSB?

Postby Grip Fast » Thu Aug 09, 2018 9:33 pm

I've been hoping to get to a BSB race this year and had pencilled in Knockhill, but that trip didn't happen. Caldwell Park is a good one for me, but this year I've got a prior engagement and same for the two after (one is Silverstone, but I don't really like that track as a spectator anyway). So, the only one I'm available to see is Assen, or maybe Brands Hatch.

Anyone been to Assen? Is it any good from a spectator viewpoint, and have I left it too late for accommodation I wonder?

Assen is good for viewing as it has banking most of the way round the circuit, just wander round on the Saturday and see where you like best, the grandstand at the final chicane gets busy. Spectator numbers are not that big compared to Motogp and WSB so accom should be ok, especially 10-20 miles away.

I agree with what Al says.

I usually stop away from Assen. Zwolle is a good town to stay in with plenty of decent accommodation that's 40min south of Assen so its less distance from your ferry or tunnel and if you feel like it, Amsterdam is only an hour away on the train for a Saturday night out

Ten Kate have a bike shop at Nieuwleusen, just NE of Zwolle which is well worth a visit, we even got shown round the WSB workshop and warehouse with the WSB and SS bikes in 8)

Go for it.
