Re: taking matters into our own hands

Wednesday wasn’t too wet and think it dried up around 1pm?

Wet enough that you couldn’t be bothered taking off your gloves for photos.

Re: taking matters into our own hands

We’re in Lochcarron now right on the 500, just starting our 2nd week :D and it’s very quiet, there’s the normal amount of bikers and camper vans but no more than the last time we were here, but possibly due to no foreign visitors Stopped by there Wednesday - popped into the Golf Course for lunch. A...

Re: taking matters into our own hands

This is not good.We should be encouraging people to get on planes and sod off to far away places with all the other obnoxious morons, leaving our beautiful countryside for us nice people to enjoy on our 2 and 4 wheeled sports vehicles. A sentiment which is not that extreme. The whole countryside is ...

Re: taking matters into our own hands

Ha, so you've come round to the thinking that paying a fortune to an airline to go to the other side of the world for sandy beaches and risk getting skin cancer is not worth it. I now have 3 mates who won't bother renewing their passport when they run out and that they want to travel and support bu...

Re: R1200/1250 RS Suspension - Dynamic ESA vs 'normal'

I think the ESA also reduces the dive of traditional forks under heavy braking. If you buy an ESA bike, then a future failure of shock/forks will be expensive to make good. If you buy the standard bike then you will have a bike similar to most other conventionally-fitted bikes, in that good aftermar...

Re: R1200/1250 RS Suspension - Dynamic ESA vs 'normal'

Is there a recognised route for decent aftermarket shock/fork inserts for the 1200r? If the bike is a few years old - it might be a good option to avoid ESA and possible failures by putting on better suspension. People used to say that you would be taking a hit on resale, but with decent aftermarket...

Re: Gearbox oil R1100S

Interesting.

I seem to remember that (I think) Grommit recommended Harley Davidson engine oil for the R1100s, as it basically was the same type of engine and was very highly thought of.

Maybe was a 'black' oil so could have had a trace of something like Molybdenum Disulphide in it?

Re: 190/50/17 on a 5.5 inch rim....Certain death??

Regulations have tightened right up in recent years, and none in the insurer's favour. They would literally have to prove that a loss was a direct result of fitting the wrong size tyre to the bike to have any chance of recovery. How are they ever going to ascertain that? BTW your example is not of ...

Re: 190/50/17 on a 5.5 inch rim....Certain death??

Insurance are not allowed to deny a 3rd party claim based on vehicle condition it's specified in the Road Traffic Act. You won't tear a hole in time and space fitting a 190 to a 5.5" rim but you might not like the way it turns. Certainly if I was on a budget and I had one spare I'd be fitting ...
