Well, on this point you will have to help me.
First, I need to define a scope of supply.

I think that I will propose a basic kit including the electronic module, with a choice on the display size (13, 10 or 7 mm) and on the cable length between the module and the display. for such a scope, it shouldn't be above £20, including shipping. But it will depend on how many people will be interested. I must refine the figures.

For those who don't feel confident enough with the sensor or the integration and don't fear to pay more, I will see if I can propose (in limited amount) a "full solution", that would include the sensor and instrument cluster integration (need for cluster shipping forth and back).

What do you think ?

Personally, I'd be happy with the basic kit but with a 10mm display, I think. I'd probably look to mount it in about the same place as yours. Obviously I'd need to source the correct gearbox switch. The specification, length and suggested routing of the extra wiring would be useful information too. Thanks Buzzz :)

Looks like a good mod.

I know lots of people moan about gear indicators being a wast of time and make you lose the 'feel' for what gear your in and so on.....but I've had them on my last two bikes, and every time I jump on someone elses bike that doesnt have one, I miss it.

For those who wondered where I have put the electronic module, here is a sketch I have made (sorry, no photo for now)

The module is shown naked, but in reality, I have wrapped it in electrical insulator to avoid short circuit in the cluster.

Well, I have refined my analysis regarding the feasibility of a small serie.

I can propose 3 options.
- 1 with only the electronic module and the display.
- 2 is the same as 1 + the wiring to the sensor.
- 3 is the same as 2 + modification of the instrument cluster.

For the solutions 2 and 3, the sensor is the problem
1) The sensors 23312330144 and 23142333154 have different plugs. So, you must send me your old sensor or its plugs to do the wiring.

2) There are very few sensors for sale and the prices are often high. As I'm not a professional, I can't afford to buy as many sensors as modules (6 for the moment).

What I propose is to limit my supply to the electronic part and the know how.
If you want the option 2 or 3, you'll have to find a sensor 23142333154 and send it to me with your old sensor (or plug) and your instrument cluster.

For the price, here is my quotation :
    Package 1 : Electronic module + display (10 or 13 mm)
    --> £12 + £5 International Letter shipping

    Package 2 : Elec module + display + wiring to the sensor (supplied by you)
    --> £20 + £14 Insured Packet

    Package 3 : Elec module + display + wiring to the sensor (supplied by you) + instrument cluster modification
    --> £37 + £14 Insured Packet

What do you think?

Sorry to say it bit have no interest in this at all, nor do I see any need for it. There was not a voting option for my opinion. I have had bikes with this fitted and found it without any use. Sorry.

Everyone can have his own opinion. I have no problem with that.

And why should there be, bb2? The man's offering (very kindly IMO) to provide his kit, with 3 options, to those who are interested. Why would he want or need to know that you don't think it's necessary :?

Gear indicator

I did not mean to cause any offence, I thought a forum was to discuss things?

I don't see the need for this technology and just said so. ( as did ME109 )

Sorry again!

No offence! :) Perhaps calling it a 'poll' was a bit misleading. I'm thinking Buzzz is aiming at the already interested parties: he wants to know the level of interest in each package he's prepared to do, rather than whether people are interested at all. I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wayward... 8)

You're totally right. :D

This will help me to build my shopping list.

I will leave the poll for about a week. Then I'll open a new topic in the "sales" sections for people to confirm what they want.

I must add that this poll is very important for me because it will determine for how many kit I will buy componants.

Of course, I will buy more than necessary, but not much. So don't forget to fill the poll.

Please confirm what you want here :
http://www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtop ... 507#123507

I close the confirmations on the 29/01/2012.
Those who will apply later will be on a spare list.

I'm all for it, and am having one.

I can never remember which cog I'm using (having a few bikes, all with different characteristics doesn't help, neither does having Alzheimers Lite :oops: )

Alpine hairpin coming up? You know you should be in 2nd for it, so a quick glance down and you know you have 2 shifts to get there......

Time the downchanges neatly - job done. I'm not afraid to admit it :)

Al :D
If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........

See if that works .....
:?
